Unknown Artist vol.1 is a photo installation consisting of hundreds of film stills arranged into a visual essay that maps, categorizes, and connects portrayals of artists, examining both their visual grammar and recurring themes. Currently the work features 857 images from 1914 to 2025. The images are a combination of film/TV stills of artist characters, reoccurring visual tropes (for example: artists breaking stuff or death scenes), and the artwork these characters theoretically create.
